Description

Pizza Pot Pie is a comforting, hearty dish that combines all the bold flavors of classic pizza with the cozy appeal of a pot pie. Loaded with savory meat, rich pizza sauce, and plenty of melted cheese, everything is baked beneath a golden, buttery crust.  Ingredients

Crust

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

  • 6–8 tablespoons cold water

(You may also use store-bought pizza dough for convenience.)

Filling

  • 450 g (1 lb) ground beef or Italian sausage

  • 1½ cups pizza or marinara sauce

  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ cup diced onion

  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms

  • ½ cup diced bell peppers

  • 10–12 slices pepperoni

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional Add-ins

  • Black olives

  • Crushed red pepper flakes

  • Fresh basil or oregano



 Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  1. In a bowl, mix flour and salt.

  2. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Gradually add cold water, mixing until dough comes together.

  4. Form into a disk, wrap, and chill for 15–20 minutes.

Make the Filling

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add onion, bell peppers, and mushrooms; sauté until softened.

  3. Add ground meat and cook until browned; drain excess fat.

  4. Stir in pepperoni, pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.



Assemble

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

  2. Grease a deep baking dish or individual oven-safe bowls.

  3. Add a layer of mozzarella cheese to the bottom.

  4. Spoon in the meat and sauce mixture.

  5. Sprinkle with Parmesan and remaining mozzarella.

  6. Roll out dough and place over the top, sealing edges around the dish.

  • Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbling.

  • Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
